100th Post!!! Time to Celebrate, Russian Style!

Happy 100th post to me!!! and to celebrate, we'll all drink shots of vodka and toast to life, love, and health!

As a present to you all for coming along with me so far, I had an amazingly wonderful video of my in laws singing the Soviet national anthem after three bottles of vodka while we were at the beach last week.  It's something that comes out relatively frequently when reminiscing about the motherland.

HOWEVER, I wasn't given permission to post it because there was some concern that it would be...somewhat...embarrassing.  Harumph, don't they know that's the point?  So anyway, what follows will have to suffice.  I found this searching "drunk russians singing soviet national anthem".  It's almost exactly what you would have seen had I uploaded my own family's video.

Sadly, we Americans don't have this kind of nostalgic, nationalistic pride.  It's a shame, really.

Thank you so much for reading - I love you all!!

  1. Congrats on your 100th post!
Oh yes, I could see the nostalgic, drunken nationalistic pride in that video. I always thought the Americans had it too.

  2. This is probably the best celebration of 100 posts that I've ever seen. Mostly because the video is 2:52 of total trainwreck. What's not to love? At first glance, it looks like they are all huddled around a fire (very reminiscent of Spies Like Us)...then you realize they are in some sort of metal shack building (??). Then they start singing which sounds exactly like blibb blubb blabb blabb blabb boob bob babe. Then there's the middle part where a) no one knows the words and b) is apparently very funny and c) is the perfect time to kiss if you are a lesbian. Then the big finale. I think you chose well.

  3. Happy 100! This is the second 100th post post I've read in 7 minutes. What the hell? Anyway. Congrats! And I agree -- you wouldn't see very many people singing the US national anthem drunk unless it was in jest.
